Live our Values - Fly High

Welcome to Hemswell Cliff Primary School

Mrs WaplingtonIt is my pleasure to offer a warm welcome to our website. We hope that this website will give you an insight into our school and help you to find all of the information that you need.

At Hemswell Cliff we are very proud of our school.

The school is set in grounds which are both attractive and extensive. Our school is a lovely building to be in and the learning environment is bright and stimulating. Our exceptional staff are warm and caring whilst having the highest of expectations of each child. The teaching and learning that they provide is of the highest quality. Every pupil is encouraged to strive for personal excellence in all areas of school life. We aim to support pupils as they learn by giving them a strong sense of belonging, building self esteem and developing a passion for learning and the confidence to try new things that we allow each child to flourish and truly achieve their potential.

Please continue to browse our website or even better come and visit our school and see the school at work!

Accelerated Reader

Hello everyone. We have been back in school for a week and everything is going well.

This is a reminder about completing quizzes for your home reading book. Remember you can login to complete a quiz on the book you took home at lockdown.
Use the link below to open the site, and remember you all have your own login details for your Accelerated Reader book. https://ukhosted29.renlearn.co.uk/6702506/

For the children who would like to read their own books, remember to look for a quiz on the link below.
Enter the title of the book you are reading and if there is a quiz to match, it will tell you the quiz number and book level. So, for example if you type in: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – it will tell you it is book level 6.0 and AR Quiz No. 200738.
You can then login and complete the quiz as you would normally.

I will be opening the site from Wednesday 24th February – Friday 26th February

PLEASE REMEMBER: The quiz must be completed by your child unaided. However, you can discuss the book beforehand and read the quiz questions out loud, but please do not help with the answers. Your child can also have their book to hand to refer to the text if they wish, to help them answer questions. Make sure your child feels ready and happy to complete the quiz as we look for a successful pass rate of 85%.

Teachers will be monitoring the programme. If your child scores 85%+ you can put the reading book with your child’s completed work pack and hand it in on a Monday morning and it will be changed for the following week. In the intervening period please encourage your child to read a book from home, daily.

If your child scores below 85%, it means your child needs to read the book again, to really understand its meaning. Your teacher will cancel the quiz, so your child can retake it at a time when they feel more confident with the content of the book.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Stay safe and look after each other
Mrs. Smith
