Making sure our pupils are happy and secure is very important to us. To help us we have a number of initiatives that the children can use if they want to.
I originally started my professional career working in Oxford as a Senior Ward Sister of a busy inpatient mental assessment ward. This background has given me a good grounding in the management of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
I left Oxford to relocate back to my home county of Lincolnshire in order to spend time with my three young children
I joined the Hemswell team when I started working as a volunteer in September 2009 listening to readers in Year 1/2.
In November 2009 I was employed as a 1:1 TA working with a child with additional needs. It was during this time that I worked alongside specialist staff from Fortuna School. This initiative created a new role of Learning Mentor, which I have been working as ever since. This role allows me to work across the whole school, providing support for children and staff where and when it is most needed.
I have enjoyed this new role immensely and have witnessed the arrival of “the Snug”, which has made a significant impact within the school setting.
I love my job, no one day is the same as the next! It is a real pleasure to work in such a dynamic, friendly and forward thinking School.
